Once your surgery has been scheduled we request you call the preoperative exams department (tel 02/434 86 41) in order to plan exams ahead of surgery. Please take with you any relevant exams done outside the hospital or send them by email to preop.delta@chirec.be

Ask approval of your family doctor beforehand.  Other anticoagulants are liable to interfere with surgery (Sintrom, Pradaxa, Xarelto, Eliquis, Plavix) and must be replaced by daily subcutaneous heparin injections 2-10 days prior to surgery. Certain antidiabetics (Glucophage, Metformax, Metformine) must be discontinued 24 hours before surgery or before intravenous contrast-enhanced radiology such as CT scan.

Before undergoing colonoscopy or bowel surgery you may be instructed to follow a diet for 5 days.
